I hope that at least some of you don’t already know the answer to this question. (If you do, then please don't give it away!) If you don’t know, then please make a guess before you click on the answer and tell me what you guessed afterwards, because I curious to see how many people will actually guess right. And no cheating!
In France, it is not a rabbit that brings Easter candy. What animal/person/thing traditionally brings Easter candy in France?
A) A lamb
B) A church bell
C) An egg
D) A religious figure (such as an angel, an apostle, or even Jesus himself)
B, a church bell. According to tradition, on Good Friday, all the bells in France are sad because Jesus is dead, so they fly away to Rome. On Easter Sunday, when Jesus resurrects, they all fly back to France, bringing happiness in the form of chocolate and candy. In keeping with this tradition, no bells in France are rung between Good Friday and Easter morning.
(FYI: Marlene says that in Germany, it is a rabbit that brings the Easter candy.)

Date: 2008-03-12 06:18 am (UTC)I wonder what the phrase I say the most is. Probably "Do you have a discount card with us?" or "Your total is ..." I should really count how many times I say that in a day. I was scratching Sable earlier tonight and he totally started farting. I was like, "Sable, did you fart?" and he did it again! That dog. Have they started putting Easter candy out in the stores yet? I wonder what kind of Easter candy they have in France. Probably no Cadbury eggs or marshmallow peeps.
Jodie Foster really isn't that pretty, but she seems like a cool person, in addition to being a good actress. Also amazing considering what a weird life she's led.
